Description
Living the Christian life is a two-way street. While God always keeps his side of the bargain, we must choose to obey Him daily. It begins when we respond by faith to God’s offer of salvation and the Lord spiritually crucifies, buries and raises us to walk in newness of life, sealing us with the Holy Spirit of promise. This is something that can never be taken away or lost.
In this message, however, Dr. Stanley focuses on our role in living the Christian life—which is to obey God and trust Him to keep His promises. The opportunity to sin, or disobey God, will always be present, so we have a daily responsibility to renounce it and resist the temptations of Satan when they come our way.
Thankfully, this isn’t something God asks us to deal with on our own. When we remember that we have the indwelling presence of God in our lives, sin loses its appeal. We don’t have to find our own ways to deal with a temptation. Instead, we can call upon the One who has given us victory over the dominating, dictatorial rule of Satan.
