It is a problem in nations today, in businesses, in churches. Its destructive effects can be seen in relationships, in the hearts of those you love … perhaps even in your own. Though you won’t find the word “status” anywhere in Scripture, the Lord’s scathing words in Matthew 23 prove that striving after prominence and power was just as damaging and ungodly then as it is now. 

In this message, Dr. Stanley helps us use Scripture to examine ourselves for pride, an inflated sense of self, and any incorrect views about others whom we may be judging by some arbitrary standard we consider necessary for worldly success.

Status seeking is a negative and selfish attitude that can destroy our intimacy with God and others and makes our testimony ineffective. Learning to value what and whom He values will inspire a positive sense of true worth and belonging in Him, and a humble heart that loves and serves others. There is no greater life than this.
