Description
This stunning original photograph of Budir Church under the bright blue skies of west Iceland would make a striking addition to any space.
This coastal church sits on the site of an old fishing village on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The exterior is painted black using pitch, a substance once used to cover the hulls of boats, as protection from the harsh Icelandic elements. Budir Church has served the local parish in some form almost continuously since 1703. Its steadfastness encourages us to consider the eternal nature of the church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright” (Prov. 10:29).
About the photographer: This photo was taken in 2011 by In Touch founder Dr. Charles F. Stanley (September 25, 1932 – April 18, 2023). His joy behind the camera was always evident. Through his pictures, he shared with the world his wonder at God’s constant presence and breathtaking glory. As you enjoy this photo in your home or office, we hope you will take to heart this prayer of Dr. Stanley’s: “Open our eyes, Lord, and help us see everything You want us to see. Your handiwork is everywhere.”
